Spain isn't most peoples' first thought when it comes to ski destinations but it has a few decent resorts hidden away within its borders. La Molina is in the Pyrenees, under two hours drive up from Barcelona. It is joined with the neighbouring resort of Masella.

Our time at Portofino was a very much a chillout week so this will be more of a review than a travelogue entry.

Portofino is a small luxury beach resort on Ambergris Caye, the largest island just off Belize's coast. The resort is reached by a short high-speed boat ride northwards from San Pedro.

Blancaneaux Lodge used to be Francis Ford Copolla's private retreat in the rainforest of the Maya Mountains. It is now a small eco-friendly resort consisting of several thatched villas and cabanas dotted along the bank of the River Privassion. Its location is perfect for visiting sites such as the amazing Mayan ruins at Caracol.

Immersed in the Datai’s pool, surrounded by the evening rainforest canopy you soon begin to appreciate the local fauna’s focus on flying. Apart from the obvious birds and bats, on Langkawi there are species of frogs, geckos, squirrels and even snakes that are able to take to the air and glide from tree to tree...
